Persistent heavy rainfall on July 23, 2026, has severely disrupted rail connectivity across the Ratlam and Mumbai divisions of Western Railway. The combination of intense downpours, waterlogging in the Bhilad-Borivali section, and dangerous boulder falls in the Mumbai-Pune Ghat region has forced authorities to reschedule, divert, or cancel several key long-distance services to ensure passenger safety.
- Five major trains originating on July 23 have been fully canceled.
- Several long-distance services are being diverted via alternative routes to bypass affected sections.
- Railway authorities are providing relief to stranded passengers as weather alerts remain in effect.
- Passengers are advised to check real-time updates via NTES or dial 139.
Impacted Train Services
The heavy weather conditions led to the immediate cancellation of five trains originating on July 23: the 12909 Bandra Terminus – Hazrat Nizamuddin Garib Rath Express, 12953 Mumbai Central – Hazrat Nizamuddin August Kranti Rajdhani Express, 12955 Mumbai Central – Jaipur Superfast Express, 22975 Bandra Terminus – Ramnagar Express, and the 12903 Mumbai Central – Amritsar Golden Temple Express.
Several other trains have been diverted to maintain connectivity. The 22633 Trivandrum – Nizamuddin Express is running via the Daund – Jalgaon – Paladhi – Udhna – Surat route. Similarly, the 09323 Khadki – Indore Special is operating via Lonavala – Karjat – Panvel – Kalyan – Igatpuri – Jalgaon – Paladhi – Surat. The 12264 Hazrat Nizamuddin – Pune Duronto Express has been diverted via Surat – Paladhi – Jalgaon – Manmad. Additionally, the 04712 Bandra Terminus – Bikaner Special will now originate from Vadodara, with the sector between Bandra and Vadodara remaining canceled.
Passenger Assistance and Weather Outlook
Railway officials have been actively assisting travelers affected by these disruptions. At Ratlam Railway Station, food and drinking water were distributed to stranded passengers. This follows a recent incident where the West Express faced a six-hour delay at Bamaniya station, which had resulted in passenger unrest.
The Meteorological Department has issued an Orange Alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall in Madhya Pradesh, including the Ratlam district, for the next 24 hours. Railway services are expected to be restored in a phased manner as weather conditions improve. Passengers are strongly urged to verify their train status through the official NTES website or by calling 139 before heading to the station to avoid unnecessary inconvenience.
