To manage the massive influx of pilgrims, the station will feature a new stabling line, specifically designed to increase parking capacity for locomotives, coaches, and additional trains. This strategic move is vital to handle the expected surge in rail traffic during the mega event, which is scheduled to take place from March 27 to May 27, 2028.

Currently, railway authorities often face logistical challenges, frequently having to divert trains to Mhow for parking due to space constraints at Indore station. The addition of this new stabling line at Rajendra Nagar will significantly alleviate operational pressure on both Indore and Mhow stations. By creating a dedicated space for train maintenance and parking, the Western Railway aims to save both time and operational costs, ensuring a smoother flow of traffic during the peak festival period.

This project is part of a larger, city-wide effort to upgrade Indore’s transport infrastructure. Beyond the railway improvements, local authorities are fast-tracking metro, flyover, and road projects to ensure the city is ready for the millions of visitors expected in 2028.
Furthermore, the railway ministry is focusing on enhancing connectivity during the event. Plans are currently in motion to introduce a Vande Metro train service between Indore and Ujjain to facilitate seamless pilgrim movement. Additionally, efforts are being accelerated to complete the Indore-Manmad rail line project by 2028, which will provide much-needed rail connectivity and further bolster the region’s infrastructure ahead of the grand Simhastha event.
