Shahjahanpur Member of Parliament Arun Sagar has officially petitioned the Union Government to expedite the construction of three long-pending railway overbridges (ROBs) in his constituency. Addressing the Lok Sabha, the MP highlighted that the projects are largely complete, with only critical tasks such as girder placement over active railway tracks remaining. This intervention seeks to resolve persistent delays that have hampered local connectivity and infrastructure development.

Future Infrastructure Expansion Plans
While pushing for the completion of existing projects, the region is also eyeing significant expansion. In June 2026, the Public Works Department (PWD) proposed three new overbridges to address severe traffic bottlenecks. Local MLAs Arvind Singh and Salona Kushwaha have been instrumental in pushing these plans, which include an **890-meter double-lane overbridge at the Badshahnagar-Kahelia road crossing**, estimated to cost **₹70 crore** and serve **59,000 vehicles daily**. Additionally, a **₹75 crore, 890-meter two-lane structure** is planned between Banthra depot and Dilailapur village, which is expected to support **50,000 vehicles per day**, alongside a third project on the Nigohi-Puwayan road.
Consistent Advocacy and Ministry Reforms
MP Arun Sagar has maintained a proactive stance on railway development. In February 2025, he met with Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw regarding the ROB at crossing 325-C, which successfully triggered the initiation of a **Technical Feasibility Report and Detailed Project Report**. These local efforts align with the broader national strategy announced by the Railway Ministry in July 2026. Minister Vaishnaw’s new framework focuses on **improving project execution efficiency** through stricter contractor eligibility criteria, mandatory insurance, and upfront performance securities. By enforcing these reforms, the Ministry aims to eliminate the chronic delays that have historically plagued infrastructure projects across Indian Railways.
