Commuters traveling along the Rae Bareli-Ayodhya highway in Amethi are facing significant travel delays this week due to the temporary closure of the Pure Shohrat railway crossing. The Railway Administration has initiated essential track repair work at this location, which is critical for maintaining safety and operational efficiency along this busy rail corridor. The closure, which commenced on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, is scheduled to remain in effect until August 14, 2026.

Key details regarding the disruption include:

  • Closure Duration: Four days, ending on August 14, 2026.
  • Alternative Route: Commuters are advised to utilize the Sidhiyanwa bypass to avoid the construction zone.
  • Impact on Travel: Local residents, including students, farmers, and patients, must navigate an additional three to five kilometers of travel.
  • Train Operations: All trains passing through the maintenance site are restricted to a cautionary speed of 30 kilometers per hour.

Operational Updates and Safety Measures

The maintenance work is being carried out under strict supervision to ensure the structural integrity of the tracks. According to Station Superintendent Battilal Meena, the railway department received formal block permission to conduct these repairs daily between 11:50 AM and 02:50 PM. During these specific windows, the track is off-limits for standard traffic, necessitating the closure of the crossing.

The project has faced some administrative challenges during its execution. RPF Sub-Inspector Ramesh Kumar confirmed that a JCB machine was previously removed from the site due to a lack of proper authorization for its deployment. Despite these hurdles, the Station Master Siyaram Meena has reiterated that the reduced speed limit for trains remains in force to guarantee the safety of both the workers on the ground and the passengers on board.

Local authorities are urging the public to plan their journeys in advance, particularly for emergency services like ambulances, which are currently facing extended transit times. Residents are encouraged to stay updated via local railway announcements and use designated bypass routes to minimize inconvenience during this essential infrastructure upgrade.
