In a major relief for passengers, the Railway Board has officially regularized the Tanakpur-Achhnera special train, transitioning it into a permanent express service. Additionally, Indian Railways is boosting connectivity by introducing festival specials for Raksha Bandhan and augmenting coach capacity on several popular routes to manage the seasonal passenger surge.
- Train 15094-15093 Tanakpur-Achhnera Express will begin regular operations from August 31, 2026.
- The service will run five days a week: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday.
- Key stoppages include Bareilly City, Bareilly Junction, Pilibhit, and Budaun.
- Special trains for Raksha Bandhan are scheduled between August 22 and August 31, 2026.
- Additional sleeper coaches have been added to eight major trains, including the Padmavat Express and Sampoorna Kranti Superfast Express.
Regularization and Fare Relief
Starting from August 31, 2026, the Tanakpur-Achhnera service will shed its ‘special’ tag to become a regular express train. This transition is highly anticipated by daily commuters, as it is expected to provide significant fare relief compared to the previous special fare structure. By operating five days a week, the train will serve as a vital link for passengers travelling through the Pilibhit and Bareilly regions.
Festival Specials and Capacity Augmentation
To accommodate the heavy rush during the Raksha Bandhan period, Indian Railways has launched several short-term services. This includes the Bareilly-Roorkee special (04321/04320 and 04319/04322), alongside new unreserved train services running between Lucknow and Haridwar. These services are operational from August 22 to August 31, 2026, to ensure seamless travel for families and festive travellers.
Furthermore, the railway administration has prioritized passenger comfort by adding one additional sleeper coach to eight prominent trains passing through the Moradabad route. This move is designed to reduce waiting lists on high-demand trains like the Padmavat Express and Sampoorna Kranti Superfast Express. In a separate development, the Bareilly-Delhi passenger service has officially resumed its full operations following the successful completion of essential infrastructure and repair work at Bareilly Junction, ensuring that local connectivity remains uninterrupted for daily commuters.
