• The new system boasts a capacity of 1.5 lakh tickets per minute.
• AI-integrated waitlist predictions now offer 94 percent accuracy.
A Technological Leap for Passenger Reservations
This booking cycle is particularly noteworthy as it signals the rollout of a major upgrade to the national carrier’s 40-year-old Passenger Reservation System. The legacy infrastructure has undergone a complete transformation to meet the growing digital demands of modern travellers. The new system is engineered to handle an impressive 1.5 lakh tickets per minute, a massive jump from the previous limit of 32,000 tickets. This upgrade is expected to significantly reduce website and app crashes during high-traffic festive booking periods.
Enhanced AI and User Experience
Beyond raw processing power, the railway authorities have integrated advanced artificial intelligence into the booking ecosystem. One of the most beneficial features for passengers is the improved waitlist confirmation prediction, which has surged from 53 percent to 94 percent accuracy. This will help travellers make more informed decisions when booking tickets during the busy festive season.
Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has personally reviewed the project, emphasizing the need for a seamless transition for all users. Passengers are encouraged to utilize the official RailOne application and the IRCTC portal for their bookings. Given the expected rush, railway officials strongly advise passengers to be ready exactly at 8:00 AM on August 18 to secure their preferred berths. With these infrastructure improvements, the national transporter aims to provide a more reliable and efficient digital experience for millions of commuters across the country.
