What’s inside:

This article talks about the growth of Vande Bharat Express trains in Odisha and upcoming services.

India is quickly growing its semi-high-speed rail network, with the number of Vande Bharat Express trains expected to reach around 144 to 150 by mid-2025. Odisha is also getting its share of development with six of these trains already in operation.

These trains connect Odisha with major cities like Kolkata, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, and Andhra Pradesh. In addition, two more Vande Bharat Express services are planned to start soon, bringing even more connectivity to the state.

The Puri-Rourkela train runs six days a week, except Tuesdays, while the busy Puri–Howrah route also operates six days, excluding Thursdays. Other services include the Brahmapur-Tatanagar train and the Bhubaneswar-Visakhapatnam train, both enhancing travel options for passengers.

These trains are designed to serve important regions, cutting down travel time and improving the overall experience for commuters. The Puri-Howrah route has recently expanded to 20 coaches due to high demand.

Looking ahead, Odisha is planning even more services, including a new Tatanagar-Puri train and a much-anticipated Jeypore-Bhubaneswar route. This will help connect southern Odisha to the semi-high-speed rail network for the first time.

Summary:

  • Odisha now has six Vande Bharat Express trains operational.

  • These trains connect Odisha to major cities in nearby states.

  • New services are being planned to further improve connectivity.

  • The Puri-Howrah route has expanded to accommodate more passengers.

  • Upcoming routes will enhance rail access for southern Odisha.
