What’s inside:

Bihar is gearing up for bullet trains with the construction of a 500 km long elevated railway track corridor. The target is to have bullet trains running in the state within the next five years.

Now, Bihar will witness the speed of bullet trains as an elevated track is set to be built for a bullet train running from Varanasi to Siliguri via Patna. This will cover more than 11 districts in Bihar, spanning around 500 kilometers. The plan is to operate bullet trains in Bihar similar to the Mumbai-Ahmedabad route.

The design of the corridor indicates that more than 85% of it will be elevated. Instructions have been given to prepare the Detailed Project Report (DPR) to different divisions, including Danapur of East Central Railway. The National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited will select an agency within two to three months to prepare the DPR. Once the agreement is reached between the agency and NRCL, work will commence.

In the next five years, the aim is to operate bullet trains in Bihar. Elevated tracks will be constructed from Varanasi to Deedeeu, Ara, Buxar, Patna, and other stations. The construction of elevated tracks will require minimal land acquisition, and if needed, land will be identified in Patna, Ara, and Buxar. The initiative aims to boost sustainable passenger transportation.

The government is also planning to establish seven high-speed rail corridors, including routes connecting Mumbai-Pune, Pune-Hyderabad, Hyderabad-Bengaluru, Hyderabad-Chennai, Chennai-Bengaluru, and Delhi-Varanasi. This will significantly reduce travel time between cities. Additionally, several Vande Bharat and Amrit Bharat trains are already operational in Bihar, enhancing connectivity.

Bihar is set to witness a transformation in its railway infrastructure with the development of the elevated railway track corridor for bullet trains. The progress made in preparing the Detailed Project Report signifies a step closer to achieving the goal of operating bullet trains in the state within the next five years.

Summary:

  • Bihar is constructing a 500 km long elevated railway track corridor for bullet trains.

  • The target is to have bullet trains operational in the state within the next five years.

  • Plans include the establishment of seven high-speed rail corridors to improve intercity connectivity.

  • The construction of elevated tracks will require minimal land acquisition, enhancing sustainable passenger transportation.

  • The progress in preparing the Detailed Project Report indicates a significant step towards the implementation of bullet trains in Bihar.
