The Danapur Railway Division of East Central Railway has introduced a special daily passenger train service between Patna and Gaya. This temporary service, running until April 6, 2026, aims to provide significant relief to daily commuters including government employees, students, and local businessmen. Senior DCM Abhinav Siddhartha confirmed that these trains will help manage the heavy passenger flow usually seen on this busy route.

What are the train timings and operational dates?

The railway authorities have scheduled the special trains to run daily for a specific period to handle the seasonal rush. Train number 03612 from Gaya to Patna started its service on March 24, 2026, while the return train number 03611 began on March 23, 2026. The operations are currently confirmed to run until April 6, 2026.

Train Number Route Departure Arrival
03612 Gaya to Patna 05:00 AM 08:00 AM
03611 Patna to Gaya 05:15 PM 08:35 PM

These services ensure a smooth travel experience during peak hours for thousands of passengers. The initiative is part of the ongoing effort by the Danapur Division to manage crowds during festivals and examinations effectively.

Which stations will the Patna-Gaya special train cover?

The special train is designed to cater to both urban and rural passengers by providing halts at all major and minor stations along the 92-kilometer route. The train consists of 22 coaches, including 20 general category coaches and 2 SLR units to accommodate a large number of passengers.

  • Key Stops: Punpun, Jatdumri, Taregna, Jehanabad, Tehta, and Bela.
  • Distance: The train covers a total distance of 92 km between the two cities.
  • Travel Time: Approximately 3 hours for Gaya to Patna and 3 hours 20 minutes for the return journey.
  • Passenger Benefit: This move will reduce the load on the existing 15 pairs of passenger trains currently running on this section.
