What are the key technical details and construction plans?
The project covers 59.96 kilometers and includes the construction of 75 bridges to facilitate easy crossing for residents. Specifically, 49 bridges will be built in Jharkhand, 23 in Odisha, and 3 in West Bengal. Along with the track, five new railway stations will be established between Chakulia and Buramara. The railway board has also allocated ₹58 crore for platform and yard expansion, while a dedicated camp office in Chakulia will oversee the work. Land acquisition in Jharkhand and Odisha was reported as complete by April 2026.
How will the project benefit the common man and industries?
This rail link will significantly reduce travel time by cutting the distance between Delhi and Bhubaneswar by 150 km. Travelers between Jamshedpur and Bhubaneswar will also benefit from a 60 km shorter route. According to official statements, the project will boost connectivity for mining belts and industrial hubs, particularly supporting the steel and rice industries. Local employment is expected to rise as construction activities progress toward the final completion target of December 31, 2029.
