Passengers at Rampur Railway Station can now book their tickets using their mobile phones by scanning barcodes installed across the station premises. This facility was introduced to reduce the heavy crowds at ticket counters and make travel easier. The system works through the Rail One app, which is a unified platform for various railway services.
How does the Rail One app booking work?
The Rail One app was launched by Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on July 1, 2025. From March 1, 2026, Indian Railways made it mandatory to use this app for all unreserved mobile bookings, replacing the old UTS app. Passengers simply scan the barcodes placed at the station to book general, platform, or reserved tickets. Once booked, a QR code is generated for platform entry.
What are the benefits for Rampur passengers?
Station Superintendent Mohd. Azam stated that this facility saves time and removes the need to stand in long queues. Previously, the station had only three counters for general, reservation, and parcel bookings, which caused huge crowds in the evenings. The digital system helps manage this pressure effectively.
