Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Anirudh Kumar recently conducted a rigorous inspection of Bhind Railway Station in Madhya Pradesh to oversee final preparations ahead of its upcoming virtual inauguration. The station has received a massive makeover under the Indian Railways’ flagship Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. During his visit, the DRM directed officials to prioritize high-quality finishing and ensure all remaining tasks are completed well before the official unveiling date.
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually inaugurate the station on July 17, 2026.
- The event is part of a nationwide launch covering 75 redeveloped railway stations across India.
- Madhya Pradesh will see 13 railway stations unveiled during this phase of the project.
- The Amrit Bharat Station Scheme aims to build infrastructure capable of serving passenger needs for the next 40 to 50 years.
Modern Amenities for Passengers
Under the modernization drive, Bhind station has been transformed to offer a world-class travel experience. Passengers can look forward to improved circulating areas, expansive waiting halls, and dedicated accessible facilities for specially-abled travelers. To keep pace with modern travel requirements, the station will now feature advanced train indicator boards, integrated coach guidance systems, and the installation of lifts and escalators to enhance mobility.
A Focus on Heritage and Growth
Beyond just structural upgrades, the redevelopment project ensures that each station maintains a unique identity. The architectural designs are customized to reflect local culture and heritage, allowing these hubs to serve as vibrant city centers with dedicated commercial spaces. Senior Divisional Commercial Manager of the Bhopal Division, Saurabh Kataria, confirmed that the preparations are in full swing to meet the July 17 deadline.
This initiative is part of a broader vision for Indian Railways. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw recently highlighted that redevelopment work for 261 stations has already been completed. The national transporter has set an ambitious roadmap to upgrade 400 stations by 2026 and reach 700 stations by the end of 2027. By focusing on cleanliness, better connectivity, and passenger comfort, the Indian Railways continues to modernize its vast network to meet the growing demands of modern India.
