The South East Central Railway (SECR) has officially launched a 24/7 bike rental service at Bilaspur Railway Station, effective from August 12, 2026. This passenger-centric initiative is located near the station’s coach restaurant, offering travelers an affordable and flexible alternative to traditional autos and taxis. The service was inaugurated by Principal Chief Commercial Manager Vijay Kumar, alongside Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Anurag Kumar Singh and other senior officials, marking a significant step toward improving last-mile connectivity for rail commuters.
Key highlights of the new bike rental service include:
- Operational Status: Available 24/7 at Bilaspur Railway Station.
- Required Documents: Passengers must provide a valid driving license and Aadhaar card; a security deposit may also be required.
- Rental Structure: Charges start at ₹100 for up to 4 hours, scaling up to ₹400 for a full 24-hour period.
- Future Expansion: Plans are underway to introduce e-bikes and install six electric vehicle charging stations at the junction.
Flexible Rental Packages and Pricing
The rental service is designed to cater to various passenger needs, whether for a quick errand or a full day of travel. The pricing structure is tiered as follows: ₹100 for up to 4 hours (up to 36 km limit), ₹200 for 4 to 8 hours, ₹300 for 8 to 16 hours, and ₹400 for 16 to 24 hours. Furthermore, the service includes specific distance allowances, such as 80 km for a 12-hour rental and 120 km for a 24-hour rental, providing clear options for those moving around the city.
