The North Central Railway has reached a significant milestone in infrastructure development as the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) conducted a safety inspection of the newly constructed third railway line between Birohi and Gaipura. Located on the high-traffic Delhi-Howrah route near Mirzapur within the Prayagraj division, this project is designed to decongest one of the busiest corridors in the Indian Railways network.

During the visit, Pranajiv Saxena, the Commissioner of Railway Safety (Northeastern Circle), carried out a meticulous assessment of the newly laid infrastructure. The inspection covered all critical components, including tracks, points and crossings, bridges, signaling and telecommunication infrastructure, and Overhead Equipment (OHE). To ensure absolute compliance with safety standards, the team scrutinized technical documents and test reports while conducting a speed trial between the two stations to verify track stability under load.
The inspection was attended by a high-level delegation of railway officials, including Senior Deputy General Manager Vineet Kumar Srivastava, Chief Administrative Officer (Construction) Ajit Singh Yadav, and Additional Divisional Railway Manager (Operations) Mohammad Mubashshir Waris. Their presence underscored the importance of this project for the North Central Railway’s long-term operational goals.
Future Impact on Rail Traffic
Once the formal approval is granted by the CRS, the third line will be opened for regular train operations. This addition is set to provide much-needed relief to the Delhi-Howrah route, which is currently burdened by heavy passenger and freight movement.
