North Western Railway (NWR) General Manager Pankaj Sharma conducted a crucial inspection at Reengus on July 20, 2026, to review the ongoing development of the proposed Khatu Shyamji railway station. This project is a major initiative to improve rail connectivity for millions of pilgrims traveling to the holy Khatu Shyam Ji Temple every year. During the visit, GM Sharma held detailed discussions with local officials and reviewed project reports to ensure the infrastructure meets the growing needs of devotees.
- Strategic Location: The new station, known as Sundarpura-Khatu Shyamji Railway Station, will be built on the Sikar-Ringas rail section between Palsana and Baori Thikria stations.
- Project Timeline: Construction is expected to begin within the next eight to nine months, with a 12-month completion target once work commences.
- Development Cost: The project is estimated to cost approximately Rs 20 crore.
- Modern Amenities: The station will blend Rajasthan’s cultural heritage with modern facilities like spacious waiting halls, booking offices, and clean toilets.
Connecting Devotees with Modern Infrastructure
Following the announcement made by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw during his recent visit to Sikar, the project has gained significant momentum. The station is located approximately 11 kilometers away from the Khatu Shyamji Temple, making it a vital gateway for incoming pilgrims. NWR’s Chief Public Relations Officer, Amit Sudarshan, confirmed that the station is being developed alongside the approved Sikar-Ringas doubling project, a move designed to accommodate future passenger traffic and reduce pressure on existing terminals like Reengus.
Focus on Engineering and Future Growth
GM Pankaj Sharma, who took charge as the NWR General Manager on July 1, 2026, emphasized that the station’s construction will follow the completion of essential technical and engineering works, including signaling and track laying. By integrating traditional Rajasthani architecture with modern railway standards, the Indian Railways aims to provide a world-class experience for travelers. This development is expected to significantly ease congestion at the current Reengus station and provide a seamless transit experience for the thousands of devotees who visit the region daily.
