The transformation of Shamli Railway Station is set to reach a major milestone as the facility prepares for its official inauguration following a comprehensive redevelopment under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually dedicate the upgraded station to the nation on July 17, 2026, with the primary event hosted at Jind Railway Station. This project, executed at a cost of ₹25.50 crore, marks a significant step in the Indian Railways’ ongoing commitment to modernizing station infrastructure and elevating the overall passenger experience across the Delhi Division.

Enhanced Infrastructure and Passenger Amenities
With the July 17 deadline fast approaching, officials are working around the clock to finalize the last finishing touches. The station has received a significant facelift, featuring a modernized main building and expanded platform shelters. As of the latest update, approximately 70% of the platform surface work is complete. To ensure seamless movement for commuters, a new 12-meter wide Foot Over Bridge (FOB) equipped with modern lifts has been installed, significantly improving connectivity between platforms.
Focus on Accessibility and Long-term Vision
A core pillar of this redevelopment is inclusive design. The station now features tactile paths, ramps, and low-height ticket counters, alongside accessible toilets and drinking water booths specifically designed for Divyangjan. These improvements align with the vision shared by Rail Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in November 2025, emphasizing that the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme is not merely about aesthetics but about creating a long-term, accessible, and efficient railway ecosystem.
Northern Railway officials, led by DRM Delhi Pushpesh R Tripathi, have been closely monitoring the project’s progress. With the ADRM-II serving as the nodal officer for the upcoming inauguration, local authorities are ensuring that every aspect of the station is prepared to meet the high standards expected of a modernized railway hub. Once fully operational, these upgrades promise to provide Shamli’s commuters with a safer, cleaner, and more comfortable travel environment.
