The Indian Railway Board has officially sanctioned two new Amrit Bharat Express services, marking a major boost for connectivity in the Purvanchal region of Uttar Pradesh. These new trains will link Gorakhpur directly to Delhi and Mumbai, catering to thousands of daily commuters and providing a modern, efficient travel alternative. The approval, formalised by Director (Coaching) Sanjay R. Neelam, is set to benefit approximately 2,000 passengers per service.

  • Gorakhpur-Delhi Amrit Bharat Express (15095/15096) will operate weekly.
  • Gorakhpur-Mumbai Bandra Terminus Amrit Bharat Express (15085/15086) will run weekly on an experimental basis.
  • Both trains are designed for a maximum operational speed of 130 kmph.
  • The services feature modern amenities including CCTV surveillance, talk-back systems, and vacuum bio-toilets.

Route Details and Timings

The Gorakhpur-Delhi Amrit Bharat Express (15095) is scheduled to depart Gorakhpur every Thursday at 10:45 PM, reaching Delhi at 12:50 PM the next day. The return leg, Train 15096, will depart Delhi every Friday at 2:00 PM, arriving in Gorakhpur at 6:25 AM on Saturday. Key stoppages include Khalilabad, Basti, Gonda, Burhwal, Sitapur, Bareilly, Moradabad, and Ghaziabad.

For the Mumbai route, Train 15086 will depart Bandra Terminus every Saturday at 9:20 PM, arriving in Gorakhpur on Monday at 6:45 AM. This long-distance service covers a comprehensive list of stations, including Kanpur, Agra Fort, Kota, Ratlam, Vadodara, Surat, and Borivali, ensuring connectivity across multiple states.

Modern Features and Future Expansion

These Amrit Bharat trains are built with passenger comfort in mind, offering ergonomic seating and enhanced safety features. The inclusion of a talk-back system allows passengers to communicate directly with the loco pilot or train manager in case of emergencies, a significant step forward for onboard safety. The North Eastern Railway administration is currently finalising the operational preparations for the launch.

With these additions, the total number of Amrit Bharat services passing through Gorakhpur continues to grow. This initiative is part of a larger national vision, as the Railway Board has announced plans to introduce 24 additional Amrit Bharat Express trains across the Indian Railways network in the near future, further modernising the middle-class travel experience.
