Titagarh Rail Systems Limited has secured official approval from Indian Railways to manufacture 6FRA-6068 type three-phase asynchronous traction motors. Passengers and rail enthusiasts following domestic manufacturing developments will note that this certification comes into effect from August 19, 2026, following a formal media release issued by the company on August 21, 2026. This regulatory milestone empowers the company to produce up to 1,200 traction motors annually and bid directly for high-value railway procurement contracts.
Expanding Production Capacity and Financial Outlook
The recent nod from the national transporter significantly strengthens the propulsion and electrical division of Titagarh Rail Systems. The company has outlined an aggressive manufacturing roadmap, aiming for an escalated production target of 3,000 traction motors annually by the 2027-2028 fiscal year. Corporate management anticipates that this vital propulsion segment will comfortably generate between ₹300 crore and ₹400 crore in revenue over the upcoming two to three years, further solidifying the domestic manufacturing ecosystem for heavy-duty electric locomotives and trainsets.
Strong Financials and Robust Order Book
This development rides on the back of impressive financial performance for the first quarter of fiscal year 2027. Titagarh Rail Systems announced a consolidated net profit of ₹52.58 crore, marking a massive turnaround from a net loss of ₹23.10 crore recorded in the corresponding period previously. Furthermore, the company registered its highest-ever quarterly revenue from its Passenger Rolling Stock (PRS) division.
Backing this growth is a massive standalone order book valued at ₹13,335 crore as of June 30, 2026, with passenger rail systems making up 78 percent of that total. When factoring in joint ventures, the overall combined order book touches an astounding ₹26,635 crore, ensuring a steady stream of production and supply work for Indian Railways in the near future.
