Akbarpur railway station in Ambedkar Nagar is getting a major security boost. As part of the Amrit Bharat Project, the railway administration is installing 55 high-definition CCTV cameras to monitor the station. This move aims to make travel safer for all passengers by keeping every corner under surveillance.
Where will the cameras be installed?
The new cameras will cover all critical areas of the station to ensure no spot is left unchecked. The installation includes the following locations:
- All three platforms and the overbridge
- Main entrance and booking/reservation halls
- Waiting rooms and the control room
- Station Superintendent’s office
Who is managing the installation process?
The project is being handled by a telecom company under the railway administration. Station Superintendent Vinod Kumar confirmed that the equipment has arrived and work has already started. This follows earlier efforts where the local police, under the direction of SP Abhijit R Shankar and Station Officer Shrinivas Pandey, had installed 6 cameras at the main gate and other key spots in January 2026.
What is the goal of this security project?
The primary goal is to strengthen passenger safety and help the Rail Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) monitor activities more effectively. RPF in-charge G.S. Gautam previously noted that this system will make the station more secure and there is a possibility of adding more cameras in the future to further enhance surveillance.
