The railway administration has started work to provide clean drinking water at Mandi Dabwali railway station and its colony. For many years, people here faced problems due to saline and alkaline water. Now, a large-capacity RO system is being installed on a war footing to fix this issue.
Why is the RO system being installed at Dabwali?
The existing tube well water had very high Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) levels, making it unfit for drinking. Suresh Mittal, a member of the Railway Advisory Committee, brought this long-standing issue to the notice of higher authorities. Since the Public Health Department refused to provide new water connections, the railway headquarters decided to build its own filtration system.
How will this project benefit passengers and staff?
The project includes the construction of a large water storage tank at the station. Purified water from this tank will be supplied through a new pipeline network. This will benefit thousands of daily commuters and railway employees living in government quarters.
- Target Area: Railway station platforms and residential colonies.
- Facility: High-capacity RO filtration and a new storage tank.
- Beneficiaries: Daily passengers and railway staff.

Who will get the benefit of the new RO water system?
The purified water will be supplied to all water booths on the platforms for passengers and to all government residential quarters in the railway colony.
