The West Central Railway’s Kota Division has officially upgraded Gangapur City Railway Station to a junction. This change became effective from May 15, 2026, and was formally announced on May 20, 2026. Along with Gangapur City, two other stations have also received this status to improve regional rail connectivity.
Which stations were upgraded to Junction status
The Kota Division has updated the status of three key stations to enhance operational efficiency. These stations will now be known as:
- Gangapur City Junction
- Ramganjmandi Junction
- Gurla Junction
What changes will passengers see at the station
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Saurabh Jain clarified that the alphabetical and numerical codes of the stations will remain the same. Only the word Junction will be added to the names. The railway administration will now update the distance tables, station lists, and passenger information systems to reflect these changes. This upgrade follows the start of new rail lines and bypass lines in the area, which will likely lead to better connectivity and more long-distance train options for passengers.
