Indian Railways is introducing a new Departure Alert System at Gwalior Railway Station to make travel safer for passengers. The system will use a specific bell sound to warn people before a train leaves the platform. This move aims to stop the rush and accidents that happen when people try to board moving trains.

How will the new Departure Alert System work?

The system will play a distinct Tan-Tan-Tan bell sound on all four platforms of Gwalior Junction. After the bell rings, an announcement will clearly state the train number and name. Once the bell stops, it means the train is starting to move and it is no longer safe for passengers to enter the coach.

What are the main benefits for passengers?

  • Prevents Accidents: It reduces the risk of injuries caused by boarding moving trains.
  • Better Timing: Passengers who go out for water or snacks will get a clear signal to return to their seats.
  • Less Chaos: The clear alert will reduce last-minute panic and the need for emergency chain-pulling.
  • Higher Awareness: The bell sound is more effective at grabbing attention than standard voice announcements.

Which other stations have this system?

Station Name Status
Prayagraj Already Implemented
Jhansi Already Implemented
Kanpur Central Expected soon after May 16, 2026
Gwalior Integration work underway
