Mukhyamantri Tirth Darshan Yojana: Special free train departs from Karnal for Nanded

The Haryana government has started a special free train service for devotees from Karnal Railway Station to Takht Sachkhand Shri Hazur Sahib in Nanded, Maharashtra. This initiative is part of the Mukhyamantri Tirth Darshan Yojana. Haryana Assembly Speaker Harvinder Kalyan flagged off the train from Karnal to begin the journey.

What are the details of the Nanded special train?

The special train departed from Karnal on May 5, 2026, carrying around 201 to 225 pilgrims. On the same day, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini flagged off a Bharat Gaurav special tourist train from Kurukshetra Junction, which also passed through Karnal. This Kurukshetra train carried over 800 devotees from 9 different districts. The government and IRCTC signed an MOU to make these pilgrimage trips easier for the public.

Who can benefit from this free pilgrimage scheme?

The scheme is specifically designed for senior citizens who meet the following criteria:

  • Age must be 60 years or older.
  • Annual family income must be less than 1.80 lakh rupees.
  • The person should not have used this scheme in the last 3 years.

The Haryana government handles all expenses related to the travel, including food, stay, and local transport at the destination.

What is the schedule and future plan for these trains?

The train from Kurukshetra is expected to reach Hazur Sahib on May 7, 2026, and return by May 10, 2026. Additionally, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced that another train will depart from Sirsa for Sachkhand Shri Hazur Sahib on May 15, 2026. Registration for these trips was conducted via the Saral Haryana portal on a first-come, first-served basis.
