Penalties for smoking and cleanliness
Smoking is strictly banned in trains and railway premises. A fine of ₹2,000 is applicable for smoking, and if the person fails to pay, they can be taken to court where the fine may increase up to ₹5,000. Additionally, the passenger’s ticket or pass can be seized. The railways are also taking strict action against those who throw garbage and spread dirt in trains or at stations.
