Indian Railways has officially integrated unreserved general ticket booking into the RailOne app, aiming to streamline passenger travel and reduce long queues at station counters. To promote the adoption of digital payments, the national transporter is offering a 3% discount on all tickets booked through this platform. This initiative is part of a broader push to make the ticketing process faster and more efficient for the millions of daily commuters across the country.
- 3% discount on all digital ticket payments via RailOne.
- Promotional offer valid until March 31, 2027.
- R-Wallet cashback scheme extended until August 24, 2028.
- Mandatory linking of valid photo ID (Aadhaar, Voter ID, or PAN) for all bookings.
- Digital tickets must be displayed directly via the app; screenshots are not valid for inspection effective July 15, 2026.
New Guidelines for Digital Ticket Validation
According to the official announcement by the DRM Prayagraj, North Central Railway, the digitalization of unreserved ticketing is gaining significant momentum, with the RailOne app now processing over 10 lakh transactions daily. To ensure a smooth transition and maintain transparency during ticket inspections, authorities have implemented strict verification protocols. Starting July 15, 2026, passengers are strictly required to present their tickets directly through the RailOne app interface. The use of screenshots, PDF printouts, or WhatsApp copies will no longer be accepted by TTEs (Travelling Ticket Examiners) during on-board inspections.
Mandatory Identity Verification
To further secure the ticketing ecosystem, Indian Railways has made it mandatory for users to link a government-issued photo identity document to their RailOne profile. Passengers can use their Aadhaar card, Voter ID, or PAN card for this purpose. It is essential for travelers to carry the original physical copy of the linked identity document while boarding the train, as officials may ask for verification to match the digital booking details. By moving away from paper-based ticketing, the Railways aims to save time for passengers while enhancing the overall efficiency of the unreserved travel segment.
