The Jhansi Division of North Central Railway has taken a significant step toward empowering disabled individuals by appointing them as Automatic Ticket Vending Machine (ATVM) facilitators. As of April 16, 2026, 16 facilitators have been deployed across seven major railway stations to assist passengers with ticket bookings. This initiative aims to provide employment opportunities to the specially-abled while making the ticketing process smoother for the general public at busy stations.
Which stations have these new facilitators?
The deployment covers major hubs across the division to ensure maximum passenger assistance. These facilitators help travelers navigate the ATVM interface for buying unreserved, platform, and season tickets. This move is part of a larger plan where the railway initially invited applications for 65 facilitators to manage 22 machines across 12 different stations. The current distribution of the 16 facilitators is as follows:
| Station Name | Number of Facilitators |
|---|---|
| Gwalior | 4 |
| Virangana Lakshmibai Jhansi | 3 |
| Lalitpur | 3 |
| Dabra | 2 |
| Orai | 2 |
| Chitrakoot Dham Karvi | 1 |
| Khajuraho | 1 |
How does the ATVM facilitator scheme work?
Facilitators are responsible for helping passengers who are not familiar with the digital touch-screen machines. For their services, these individuals earn a 3% commission on every smart card recharge used for issuing tickets. This model ensures that the railway improves its digital ticketing reach while providing a steady source of income for the appointed staff. P.R.O. Manoj Kumar stated that the appointment of disabled individuals is a crucial step toward their self-reliance and reduces queues at general ticket windows.
