To mark the spirit of Independence Day and the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, the South Eastern Railway’s Kharagpur Division organized a vibrant Tiranga bike rally on Friday. The event was held as part of the third phase of celebrations commemorating the 150th anniversary of the national song ‘Vande Mataram’, aiming to foster a spirit of patriotism and national unity among railway staff.

• The rally commenced at 8:00 AM from SERSA Stadium and concluded at Kharagpur Railway Station.

The bike rally saw enthusiastic participation from railway officials, including Additional Divisional Railway Manager Sanjeev Kumar Singh and Senior Divisional Security Commissioner Prakash Kumar Panda. Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel and employees carried the tricolour, spreading a strong message of national integration and respect for the national flag throughout the railway premises.

Beyond the bike rally, the Kharagpur Division observed Partition Horrors Remembrance Day through various cultural performances. Members of the Divisional Cultural Association performed at key stations, including Kharagpur, Midnapore, and Jhargram, to honor the sacrifices made during the partition and to promote the message of peace and communal harmony.

As part of the 150th-anniversary celebrations of ‘Vande Mataram’, the iconic song is being played in instrumental form across several railway stations in the division. The railway administration has assured passengers that these musical tributes will not disrupt regular train announcements, ensuring that all passenger-related information continues to be delivered without any delay or inconvenience. To further enhance the festive spirit, the entire divisional office and various station complexes have been decorated with special tricolour lighting, creating a celebratory atmosphere for commuters and staff alike.
