Mega Coaching Terminal: Ashwini Vaishnaw inaugurates new facility at Khatipura, launches Amrit Bharat Express

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw inaugurated the Mega Coaching Terminal at Khatipura on June 21, 2026. This new facility is designed to improve the maintenance of various types of coaches using modern technology. Along with the terminal, the Minister also flagged off the Khatipura-Darbhanga Amrit Bharat Express, which is the first train to both start and end its journey at Khatipura station.

What are the key features of Khatipura Mega Coaching Terminal?

The terminal is developed as a satellite facility to reduce the heavy rush at Jaipur Junction. It has a capacity to maintain and repair up to 12 trains in a 24-hour cycle. The facility is equipped with an automated coach washing plant, computerized wheel profile management, and the North Western Railway’s first bogie drop pit system for faster repairs.

Investment and Infrastructure Details

The project involves significant investment to modernize rail services in Rajasthan. The infrastructure includes six high-level platforms and eight rail lines, with additional lines being developed for shunting and stabling.

How will this benefit the passengers?

The terminal will serve as a centralized hub for maintaining Vande Bharat, LHB, DEMU, and traditional passenger coaches. By shifting maintenance and stabling from the main junction, trains will operate with better punctuality.
