Northern Railway is preparing to start the tender process for the final survey of the 104 km long Meerut-Panipat new railway line. The budget for this final survey has been approved in the Pink Book for the year 2025-26. This project will connect Western Uttar Pradesh and Haryana, reducing travel time and helping local trade.
What are the key details of the project?
The project covers 104 kilometers and includes 10 proposed stations. It is expected to benefit around 300 villages across Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Shamli, and Panipat districts. Around 473 hectares of land will be acquired for this purpose. The project cost, which was 2200 crore rupees in 2016, later rose to 3540 crore rupees and may increase further after the new Detailed Project Report (DPR).
Which stations and junctions will be developed?
| District | Proposed Stations/Junctions |
|---|---|

What is the next step for the project?
CPRO Himanshu Shekhar confirmed that after the final and drone surveys, a new DPR will be prepared. This report needs approval from the Railway Board, NITI Aayog, Finance Ministry, and the State Government. Once the Union Cabinet gives the final nod, the land acquisition process will begin.
