Heavy rainfall in Mumbai led to serious track issues and train delays across different zones. What happened on the Mumbai Trans-Harbour line?

The soil and ballast beneath the rails subsided due to intense rain, making the tracks unsafe. Central Railway officials declared the up line unsafe at 5:06 AM and the down line at 5:50 AM. After emergency repairs, trains started running with strict speed limits. The up line was cleared at 7:27 AM with a 10 kmph limit, and the down line was cleared at 7:35 AM with a 30 kmph limit. Waterlogging between Kurla and Matunga also caused 10-15 minute delays for local trains.

Which trains were delayed at Varanasi Railway Station?

The weather-related disruptions in Mumbai impacted several trains arriving at Varanasi on Thursday, June 25, 2026. Many passengers faced inconvenience as trains reached the station well behind schedule.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) upgraded its warning from an orange alert to a red alert for Mumbai, citing thunderstorms and intense rain. Central Railway deployed engineering teams to stabilize the track bed. Chief PRO Swapnil Nila confirmed that limited services resumed after restoration. Authorities are continuing to monitor the affected areas to ensure the tracks are structurally stable for passengers.
