In a major effort to ensure the safety and convenience of pilgrims during the ongoing Kanwar Yatra, the Northern Railway has deployed dedicated teams of the Bharat Scouts and Guides and Civil Defense at Haridwar railway station. These volunteers are working round-the-clock in coordination with railway officials to manage the massive influx of passengers and provide essential on-ground support.
Key highlights of the initiative:
- Dedicated support teams from Bharat Scouts and Guides (Moradabad Division) and Civil Defense are stationed at platforms and station premises.
- Assistance for vulnerable passengers including the elderly, women, and Divyangjan (persons with disabilities) through wheelchair services and navigation support.
- Crowd management to ensure orderly boarding and deboarding of trains during peak hours.
- Guidance and medical aid provided through ‘May I Help You’ booths and on-site first-aid services.
- 24/7 operations scheduled to continue throughout the entire month of Shravan.
Ensuring a Seamless Travel Experience
According to Mahesh Yadav, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Moradabad Division, the primary objective is to maintain a smooth flow of passengers despite the heavy seasonal rush. The volunteers are not only helping pilgrims locate their platforms and trains but are also acting as a vital link between travelers and railway authorities to provide immediate medical assistance whenever required.
Despite challenging weather conditions, ranging from heavy rainfall to intense heat, these volunteers remain committed to their service. Their presence at foot-over bridges and station entry points has been instrumental in preventing overcrowding and ensuring that pilgrims can travel safely to their destinations.
Commitment to Passenger Safety
Northern Railway has emphasized that the Moradabad Division is fully committed to providing a safe and organized travel environment for all devotees. By coordinating across various departments, the railway ensures that all necessary arrangements are in place to handle the surge in footfall. Passengers are encouraged to approach these volunteers for any travel-related queries or assistance, as the teams are equipped to guide them through the station premises efficiently. The administration continues to monitor the situation closely to ensure that the Kanwar Yatra remains a hassle-free experience for every traveler.
