Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated the Sankrail-Santragachi Link Line to the nation on June 20, 2026. This project was launched during the Paschim Banga Divas celebrations held in Tarakeswar, West Bengal. The 9 km long link line aims to reduce congestion and improve the movement of both passenger and goods trains in the Howrah district.

The project is located in the Howrah district of West Bengal and falls under the jurisdiction of South Eastern Railway. It involved an investment of approximately ₹421 crore as part of a larger ₹590 crore railway development package. To ensure efficiency, yard remodeling work at Andul and Sankrail was completed ahead of the scheduled time.

The new line will improve the punctuality of passenger trains and make the operation of freight trains faster. A key feature is the flyover between Sankrail and Andul, which connects the Sankrail down line to the Andul up line.
