Indian Railways has introduced the RailOne application to make train travel easier for passengers. Developed by the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS), this app brings multiple services like ticket booking, train tracking, and food ordering onto one platform. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw inaugurated the app to improve how passengers interact with railway services.
How to get the discount on general tickets?
Passengers can now get a 3% discount on unreserved tickets when booking through the RailOne app. This offer is available for all digital payment methods and started on January 14, 2026. The discount scheme will remain valid until July 14, 2026. Divisional Railway Manager Lalit Bohra has advised passengers to use the app for a smoother travel experience.
What are the total savings with R-wallet?
The RailOne app also features an integrated R-wallet. While digital payments give a 3% discount, the R-wallet continues to provide a 3% cashback. If a passenger uses the R-wallet for unreserved bookings, they can save a total of 6% (3% discount plus 3% cashback). This move is part of the railway’s plan to encourage cashless transactions.
What happened to the UTS app?
The RailOne app is designed to replace the old UTS app. The UTS app stopped operating on March 1, 2026. The new system aims to provide a single, streamlined experience for all passenger needs. CRIS will review the effectiveness of the discount scheme in May 2026 to decide on future updates.
