These are digital assistants designed by the Hyderabad Division of South Central Railway (SCR) under the guidance of Dr. Aniruddha Palmer. They operate 24 hours a day and are integrated with the railway’s operational database to give accurate information. While Bholu Mini is a compact, voice-based kiosk mainly supporting Telugu, Bholu Max is an advanced version with a 21-inch touchscreen supporting 12 Indian languages.

The system was unveiled on May 1, 2026, at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad, and officially announced by the Ministry of Railways on May 2, 2026. The project is developed in collaboration with Bhashini language technology to make information accessible to everyone.

East Central Railway (ECR) will now install these AI assistants at the busy stations of Muzaffarpur and Samastipur to reduce crowds at inquiry counters.
