The selection process is rigorous and comprises four distinct stages: CBT 1, CBT 2, document verification, and a medical examination. For the second stage, the board will shortlist candidates based on a 15:1 ratio, determined by the normalized scores achieved in the first Computer-Based Test.

Successful recruits will be placed in Level-6 of the 7th Central Pay Commission, which offers a starting monthly basic salary of ₹35,400. Regarding the application fees, general category candidates are required to pay ₹500, while a reduced fee of ₹250 applies to reserved categories, including SC/ST, ex-servicemen, and female candidates. It is important to note that the RRB provides for a partial fee refund for candidates who appear for the first CBT.
For those who may need to make adjustments to their submissions, the RRB has scheduled a correction window to open on September 16, 2026.
