Indian Railways is preparing to restart several passenger train services in Bihar that were stopped during the COVID-19 pandemic. This move will help thousands of daily commuters, laborers, and traders who have been struggling with limited transport options. The initiative focuses on restoring connectivity in key regions of the East Central Railway zone.

Which trains and routes will benefit from this move?

The Samastipur Division is currently assessing the situation to bring back essential services. The resumption will primarily benefit passengers traveling through Muzaffarpur, Motihari, Betia, Narkatiaganj, and Gorakhpur. The following trains are under consideration for restart:

Train Name/Route Type
Muzaffarpur – Howrah Fast Passenger
Muzaffarpur – Gorakhpur Fast Passenger
Narkatiaganj Passenger (10:30 PM) Passenger

Why is the resumption of these trains necessary?

During a recent inspection at Muzaffarpur Junction, DRM Jyoti Prakash Mishra noticed many passengers waiting overnight due to a lack of night trains. Currently, the absence of these services has created several problems for the public:

  • Heavy overcrowding in the general coaches of Mithila Express.
  • Passengers are forced to rely on expensive bus services.
  • Daily laborers and traders face significant delays in their work.
  • Commuters from cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Surat face connectivity gaps.

Once these trains start running, it will reduce the pressure on existing trains and provide a better travel experience for night-time commuters.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Which official is overseeing the restart of these trains?

DRM Jyoti Prakash Mishra of the Samastipur Division is assessing the situation and recently inspected Muzaffarpur Junction to understand passenger grievances.

Which major cities will see improved connectivity?

The restoration will primarily benefit passengers in Muzaffarpur, Motihari, Betia, Narkatiaganj, and Gorakhpur.
