New Train Announcement: Varanasi-Lucknow Special becomes regular service from May 28

The Ministry of Railways has approved the conversion of the Varanasi-Lucknow-Varanasi Special Express (04217/04218) into a regular daily service. This train will operate with new numbers 14225/14226 starting from May 28, 2026. The decision was confirmed by Samarth Gupta, Senior DCM of the Northern Railway Lucknow Division.

What is the new schedule and route?

The train will run daily between Varanasi and Lucknow, passing through key stations including Ayodhya Dham and Jaunpur. It will also stop at Babatpur, Shahganj Junction, Malipur, Akbarpur, Gosainganj, Ayodhya Cantt, Rudauli, Dariyabad, and Barabanki.

What are the coach details and impact on other trains?

The train consists of 15 coaches in total. This includes 13 general second-class coaches and two SLRD coaches, which provide seating and luggage space along with facilities for specially-abled passengers.

Due to this regular service, some changes have been made to other trains. The 13307 Dhanbad-Firozpur Ganga Satluj Express has partial timing revisions between Malipur and Rudauli. Additionally, the 20402 Lucknow-Varanasi Superfast Express will now reach Varanasi station at 10:40 PM.
