Indian Railways has upgraded the Gita Jayanti Express (Train No. 11841/11842) with 22 modern LHB (Linke-Hofmann-Busch) coaches. This move by Northern Railway aims to provide better safety and comfort for passengers traveling between Kurukshetra and Khajuraho. The new coaches started operating from Khajuraho on May 29, 2026, and from Kurukshetra on May 30, 2026.

What are the safety and comfort features of LHB coaches?

LHB coaches use German technology and are made of stainless steel and aluminum. The most important feature is the anti-telescopic technology, which prevents coaches from piling up on each other during an accident. These coaches have a better suspension system that reduces vibrations and noise, making the ride smoother. They are designed for speeds up to 160 km/h and can reach 200 km/h.

What are the additional facilities for passengers?

The train includes a smog device system that can automatically stop the train if smoke or fire is detected. Even when the train is stationary, lights and fans will continue to operate at full speed. The overall coach composition has also been updated to balance seating capacity.

General 7

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is the benefit of anti-telescopic technology in Gita Jayanti Express?

Anti-telescopic technology ensures that in case of a derailment or accident, the coaches do not climb on top of each other, significantly reducing casualties.

What is the updated coach composition of the train?

The train now has 22 coaches: 2 power cars, 1 First AC, 2 Second AC, 4 Third AC, 6 Sleeper, and 7 General coaches.
