Northern Railway has started the Automatic Block Signalling (ABS) system in the Moradabad Division. This new system is now operational in the sections between Hapur, Babugarh, Pilkhua, and Kuchesar. The upgrade will help trains traveling on the Moradabad-Delhi route, including those passing through Bareilly, to run faster and with fewer delays.
Where is the new signaling system installed?
The ABS system covers a total of 24.73 km. The specific sections include:
- Pilkhua to Hapur: 11.3 km
- Hapur to Babugarh: 7.7 km
- Babugarh to Kuchesar: 5.73 km
Senior DCM Mahesh Yadav confirmed that this system automatically manages the safe distance between trains, which reduces the chance of human error and improves punctuality.
What are the safety updates and train impacts?
Along with the signaling, railway authorities have interlocked five level crossings. Additionally, warning systems and approach locking have been installed at nine crossings to make travel safer for passengers. While this is a positive update, some trains will be affected by other maintenance work.
