Passengers on the Indore-Jodhpur Ranthambore Express (12465) experienced a moment of panic on Thursday, June 18, 2026. Smoke emerging from a general coach near Luni-Richha station in Madhya Pradesh led many passengers to jump off the train in fear. The loco pilot acted quickly by applying emergency brakes to stop the train.

What caused the smoke in Ranthambore Express

Mukesh Kumar, the Public Relations Officer of Ratlam Division, confirmed that this was not a fire incident. The smoke was caused by friction because the brake blocks of the general coach had jammed. Railway staff used fire extinguishers to control the situation and conducted a technical check of the coach.

How was the situation handled by railway staff

The train remained stationary for about 20 minutes while the technical team repaired the affected brake system. Once the safety checks were completed, the train proceeded toward its destination. Key details of the incident are listed below:
