Ongoing infrastructure development and engineering works are causing temporary disruptions to train services on the Udaipur route throughout 2026. Passengers traveling through this corridor should note the following updates regarding route changes and developmental projects:

  • Train No. 19610 (Yog Nagari Rishikesh-Udaipur City Express) was diverted on August 9, bypassing Ajmer due to girder launching work.

  • Temporary two-minute halts have been provided at Madar and Adarsh Nagar stations to assist affected passengers.

  • A major 24.78 km railway line doubling project between Umarda and Dewari is underway with an investment of 467 crore rupees.

  • Various technical upgrades, including bridge maintenance and station connectivity improvements, have impacted operations throughout the year.

Recent Operational Changes

On August 9, 2026, the North Western Railway implemented a diversion for the Yog Nagari Rishikesh-Udaipur City Express (Train No. 19610). The train was rerouted via the Madar–Adarsh Nagar bypass instead of its usual path through Ajmer. This change was required to facilitate the launching of a steel girder at level crossing Gate No. 44, situated between Ajmer and Madar stations. To ensure passenger convenience, authorities have scheduled temporary two-minute stops at both Madar and Adarsh Nagar stations. Travelers are strongly advised to check the latest train status via official railway enquiry platforms before heading to the station.

Infrastructure and Development Projects

These disruptions are part of a larger effort to modernize the railway network in the region. A significant project currently in progress is the doubling of the 24.78 km track between Umarda and Dewari. This initiative, valued at 467 crore rupees, is expected to be completed within three years and will drastically improve train movement capacity.

Earlier this year, the network saw several key upgrades. In February, Udaipur City Railway Station underwent modifications to connect Track Numbers 9 and 10, aimed at streamlining train halts. Furthermore, technical work on Bridge No. 110 between Kanpur Central and Kanpur Bridge Left Bank necessitated diversions for several long-distance trains, including the Udaipur–Kamakhya, Sabarmari–Muzaffarpur, and Bhavnagar–Ayodhya expresses between April and May. Additionally, on May 5, the Udaipur City-Jaipur train (12991) faced partial cancellation between Ajmer and Jaipur to accommodate underpass construction at Dhamkyaka station. Railway officials remain committed to completing these upgrades to ensure long-term safety and operational efficiency for all passengers.
