The Ministry of Railways has announced a major milestone for its integrated mobile application, RailOne, which has crossed 47.6 million downloads since its launch on July 1, 2025. This digital platform has become a cornerstone for passenger convenience, streamlining how travelers interact with the national transporter. Below are the key highlights of the app’s performance and the shift toward digital rail services:
- 4.76 crore total downloads achieved since July 1, 2025.
- 10 lakh daily ticket bookings processed through the platform.
- Breakdown includes 2.79 lakh reserved tickets and 7.24 lakh unreserved tickets booked every day.
- Integration of RailConnect and UTSonMobile credentials via a Single Sign-On facility.
- Significant rise in digital adoption with 89% of reserved tickets now booked online.
A Unified Digital Experience for Passengers
The RailOne application was designed to act as a one-stop solution for railway users. By consolidating services such as reserved and unreserved ticketing, real-time train information, journey planning, and passenger support through the RailMadad portal, the app has simplified the travel experience. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw noted that the platform’s success is largely due to its Single Sign-On facility. This feature allows users to seamlessly access various railway services using their existing credentials from the RailConnect or UTSonMobile platforms, eliminating the need for multiple logins.
The Digital Transformation of Indian Railways
The rapid adoption of the RailOne app aligns with the broader digital transformation strategy of Indian Railways. Data indicates a massive shift in consumer behavior over the last decade. While only 49% of reserved tickets were booked online in 2013-14, that figure has surged to approximately 89% today.
Furthermore, the railway network is successfully encouraging passengers to move away from station counters for unreserved travel. The adoption of non-counter modes for unreserved ticketing has climbed to nearly 39%. These statistics reflect the ongoing modernization of India’s railway infrastructure, aiming to provide a hassle-free, paperless, and efficient booking ecosystem for millions of daily commuters.
