The Indian Railway Board has officially approved the transformation of the existing Gorakhpur-Bandra Special into the modern Amrit Bharat Express. This significant upgrade is designed to enhance connectivity between Purvanchal and Mumbai, offering passengers a superior travel experience. With the new rake already stationed at Gorakhpur, the North Eastern Railway is expected to announce the official launch date for these services in the coming days.
Key highlights of the new service include:
- Train 15085 departs Gorakhpur every Friday at 7:50 AM, reaching Bandra Terminus at 6:00 PM the following day.
- Train 15086 departs Bandra Terminus every Saturday at 9:20 PM, arriving in Gorakhpur on Monday at 6:45 AM.
- Key route halts include Kanpur Central, Agra Fort, Kota, Ratlam, Vadodara, Surat, and Borivali.
- The service features modern amenities and strict guidelines to ensure passenger comfort and operational efficiency.
Enhanced Passenger Experience and Rules
As part of the Amrit Bharat Express guidelines, the railway has introduced specific travel rules to improve service quality. Notably, the train will not offer Reservation Against Cancellation (RAC) in the sleeper class, ensuring that all passengers are provided with confirmed berths. To maintain service standards, the railway has implemented a minimum chargeable distance of 200 km for sleeper class and 50 km for general class.
The train remains committed to inclusivity, maintaining dedicated quotas for women, persons with disabilities, and senior citizens. Additionally, the system prioritizes digital payment methods to streamline the refund process, making ticket cancellations and fare adjustments more efficient for the traveling public. By replacing the special train with the Amrit Bharat service, the Indian Railways continues its mission to modernize long-distance travel and provide a more reliable, comfortable, and faster commute for thousands of passengers traveling between Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra.
