This article shares information about India’s new Vande Bharat Sleeper Train, which will improve long-distance rail travel starting in September 2025.
India is all set to launch its first Vande Bharat Sleeper Train this September. This train will make overnight trips between Delhi and Patna much faster and more comfortable, marking a big change in rail travel.
The new sleeper train aims to cut travel time significantly, covering the nearly 1,000 kilometers in just 11.5 hours. Currently, the Rajdhani Express takes about 23 hours for the same journey. The Vande Bharat Sleeper Train promises modern amenities for a pleasant travel experience.
Passengers can look forward to features like touch-free toilets, hot water showers, and advanced safety systems. The service will start operating just before the Diwali festival, with trains leaving Patna at 8:00 PM and arriving in Delhi by 7:30 AM the next day.
This train will have 16 coaches and can carry 1,128 passengers in different classes – AC First Class, AC 2 Tier, and AC 3 Tier. The fare is expected to be 10–15% higher than the Rajdhani Express, but the added comfort and speed will make it worthwhile.
With plans for more routes, including Delhi to Ahmedabad and Delhi to Mumbai, the Vande Bharat Sleeper Train aims to enhance travel options across India. A depot for maintenance is being built near Bengaluru, ensuring the trains are well looked after in the future.
