The Indian Railway Board has officially greenlit a major expansion of the Amrit Bharat Express network, introducing new services to connect Gorakhpur with Delhi and Mumbai. These modern trains are set to enhance connectivity for thousands of passengers, with the North Eastern Railway currently finalizing operational logistics following the approval from Director (Coaching) Sanjay R. Neelam.
Key highlights of the new train services include:
- 15095/15096 Amrit Bharat Express will connect Gorakhpur to Delhi via Sitapur.
- 15085/15086 Amrit Bharat Express will provide a new link between Gorakhpur and Mumbai Bandra Terminus.
- The Delhi-bound service will operate weekly, departing Gorakhpur on Thursdays and Delhi on Fridays.
- The trains feature advanced technology, including speeds of up to 130 kmph and modern passenger amenities.
Route and Operational Details
The new Gorakhpur-Delhi service will follow a strategic route, passing through key stations including Khalilabad, Basti, Gonda, Burhwal, Bareilly, Moradabad, and Ghaziabad. Simultaneously, the Mumbai-bound service will establish a direct weekly connection between Gorakhpur and Bandra Terminus. While the specific commercial commencement dates are yet to be announced, the new rakes have already arrived in Gorakhpur, signaling that operations could begin in the near future.
Enhanced Passenger Experience
Designed with the modern commuter in mind, these trains are a significant upgrade for sleeper and unreserved class travelers. Each train is equipped with vacuum bio-toilets, CCTV surveillance, and advanced talk-back systems to ensure safety and hygiene. Passengers can also look forward to improved comfort features such as individual charging points and energy-efficient LED lighting.
With a capacity to accommodate approximately 2,000 passengers per trip, these services will initially run on an experimental basis. Railway officials have indicated that the frequency and scheduling may be adjusted in the future, depending on passenger demand and occupancy rates. This expansion marks a continued effort by Indian Railways to provide affordable, high-speed, and comfortable travel options for long-distance passengers across the country.
