The Indian Railways is moving forward with the high-speed rail project connecting Hyderabad, Pune, and Mumbai. The Detailed Project Report (DPR) for this corridor is now ready, which is a major step toward starting the actual work. This project will significantly reduce the travel time between these major cities.

What are the key details of the Hyderabad-Mumbai Bullet Train?

The proposed high-speed corridor will cover a distance of approximately 670 to 761 km. Once operational, passengers will be able to travel from Hyderabad to Mumbai in about 3 to 3.5 hours. The project is part of a larger plan approved by the Prime Minister involving 7 new high-speed corridors with a total investment of about ₹16 lakh crore.

What is the current status of the project?

Railway officials confirmed in mid-May 2026 that the DPR for the Hyderabad-Pune-Mumbai route is complete. To speed up the process, the Telangana Chief Secretary, Shanti Kumari Ramakrishna Rao, held a high-level review meeting. He directed state officials to work closely with central teams for land acquisition and infrastructure development.
