Udaipur Khajuraho Express diverted for infrastructure work on July 27 and 28

Indian Railways has announced a temporary route diversion for the Udaipur City-Khajuraho Express (train numbers 19666/19665) to facilitate essential infrastructure development. The changes are scheduled for July 27 and 28, 2026, due to ongoing track doubling and non-interlocking work currently underway on the Jhansi-Manikpur section. Passengers planning to travel on these specific dates should note the following key details:

  • Train 19666 (Udaipur City-Khajuraho) will be diverted on July 27, 2026.
  • Train 19665 (Khajuraho-Udaipur City) will be diverted on July 28, 2026.
  • The diversion is caused by non-interlocking work between Mauranipur and Rora stations.
  • The affected trains will bypass the Mahoba route to accommodate the double line project.

Route Adjustments and Operational Changes

According to officials from the North Western Railway, including Chief Public Relations Officer Amit Sudarshan and Captain Shashi Kiran, the route modification is a necessary step to ensure the long-term efficiency and capacity enhancement of the rail network. Under this temporary arrangement, train 19666, which usually follows the Veerangana Laxmibai Jhansi-Mahoba-Khajuraho path, will instead run via Veerangana Laxmibai Jhansi-Delwara-Birari-Khajuraho.

Similarly, the return service, train 19665, will operate via Khajuraho-Birari-Delwara-Veerangana Laxmibai Jhansi. By opting for this alternative path, the railway administration aims to maintain connectivity while allowing engineers to complete the critical non-interlocking tasks safely and efficiently.

Passenger Advisory

The railway administration has clarified that these diversions are strictly temporary and will remain in effect only for the duration of the scheduled construction work. Normal operations are expected to resume immediately once the infrastructure upgrades are completed. While the primary impact is focused on July 27 and 28, the broader doubling project may influence scheduling for multiple trains in the region between July 27 and 29, 2026.

To avoid any travel inconvenience, passengers are strongly advised to check the current status of their trains through the official IRCTC portal or the NTES app before heading to the station. Planning ahead will help travelers navigate these temporary adjustments smoothly.
