To assist the thousands of pilgrims traveling for the upcoming Shravani Mela, Indian Railways has announced a dedicated weekly special train service between Godda and Deoghar. This initiative aims to manage the heavy passenger influx during the holy month. Key details of the service include:
- Train Number 03443 (Godda to Deoghar) departs every Sunday from August 2 to August 30 at 1:15 PM, arriving at 3:20 PM.
- Train Number 03444 (Deoghar to Godda) departs every Sunday from August 2 to August 30 at 10:45 AM, arriving at 12:40 PM.
- The Shravani Mela is scheduled from July 30 to August 28, 2026, covering four major Mondays.
- Eastern Railway (ER) will operate 26 pairs of Mela special trains in addition to their regular services.
Comprehensive Operational Plan for Pilgrims
Both Eastern Railway and East Central Railway (ECR) have finalized extensive arrangements to ensure seamless connectivity for devotees. Beyond the Godda-Deoghar specials, ECR is running multiple services, including bi-weekly Ranchi–Bhagalpur specials and daily trains connecting Barhni–Deoghar and Asansol–Patna. These efforts are designed to complement the over 70 pairs of regular Mail and Express trains that already serve the region.
Enhanced Infrastructure and Security Measures
Railway authorities are leaving no stone unturned to ensure passenger safety and convenience. Asansol DRM Sangrah Maurya has personally inspected critical stations, including Jasidih, Baidyanathdham, Deoghar, and Basukinath. To reduce platform congestion and allow for easier boarding, the stoppage time for several major trains at Jasidih station has been extended from two minutes to four or five minutes.
Furthermore, officials have confirmed that a backup special train will remain on standby to handle any sudden surges in crowds. Security remains a top priority, with additional RPF and GRP personnel deployed across the network. Pilgrims can expect 24/7 CCTV surveillance, continuous patrolling by emergency response teams, and the availability of temporary tents at stations to provide comfortable resting areas during the pilgrimage period.
