Indian Railways has announced a new weekly special train service connecting Sikar in Rajasthan and Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh to cater to the rising travel demand during the upcoming festive season. This service, operated by the North Western Railway, aims to bridge the gap between two major cultural and religious hubs, providing seamless connectivity for pilgrims visiting the Sangam in Prayagraj and the Shri Khatu Shyam Dham near Ringas Junction.
Key highlights of the new service include:
• Train No. 04161/04162 will run for a total of 17 trips each way.
• The service operates from August 10, 2026, to December 1, 2026.
• The train configuration consists of 20 coaches, including AC, Sleeper, and General classes.
• Stops include major cities like Jaipur, Agra Cantt, and Etawah.
Schedule and Operational Details
According to the official announcement made by Chief Public Relations Officer Amit Sudarshan, Train No. 04161 Prayagraj-Sikar Weekly Special will depart from Prayagraj every Monday at 5:10 PM, arriving in Sikar at 8:20 AM the following morning. The return service, Train No. 04162 Sikar-Prayagraj Weekly Special, will depart from Sikar every Tuesday at 3:25 PM and reach Prayagraj at 8:50 AM on Wednesday.
To ensure passenger comfort, the rake will be composed of one Third AC coach, ten Sleeper Class coaches, seven General Class coaches, and two SLR/D (Guard) coaches. This diverse coach composition is designed to accommodate various categories of passengers, from pilgrims to seasonal tourists.
Strategic Connectivity Across States
The route is strategically planned to serve multiple tourist and religious circuits. Passengers can utilize these services to reach iconic destinations such as Prayagraj’s Sangam, Kanpur’s Panki Dham, the Taj Mahal in Agra, Jaipur’s Amer Fort, and the revered Shri Khatu Shyam Temple via Ringas Junction. The train will make scheduled halts at several key stations, including Bharwari, Fatehpur, Govindpuri, Phaphund, Etawah, Fatehabad, Agra Cantt, Bharatpur, Bandikui, Dausa, Khatipura, Jaipur, and Dhehar ka Balaji. This initiative reflects the commitment of Indian Railways to enhance regional connectivity and provide a convenient travel experience for passengers travelling between Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.
