The Kota Division of West Central Railway (WCR) has started a new token system for Tatkal ticket booking. This step was taken to stop long queues and overcrowding at booking counters. The system aims to make the process fair and transparent for all passengers visiting the stations.
How does the new token system work?
Passengers arriving at the booking counter will receive a numbered token. The railway staff will provide service based on the sequence of these token numbers. This will ensure that the booking process remains organized and avoids chaos at the counters.
What are the token distribution timings?
The tokens are distributed according to the class of travel as follows:
| Class | Token Distribution Time |
|---|---|
| AC Class | 9:00 AM to 9:25 AM |
| Sleeper Class | 9:30 AM to 9:55 AM |
It is important to note that the actual booking times remain the same, with AC booking opening at 10:00 AM and Sleeper at 11:00 AM the day before the journey.
What are the new rules for online and agent bookings?
From July 1, 2026, Aadhaar verification will be mandatory for online Tatkal bookings via the IRCTC website and app. From July 15, 2026, OTP authentication on mobile will be required for bookings made through computerized centers and authorized agents. To prevent bulk bookings, agents will not be allowed to book Tatkal tickets during the first 30 minutes of the window.
Reservation chart timings
For trains running between 5:01 AM and 2:00 PM, the first chart is prepared by 8:00 PM the previous evening. For trains running between 2:01 PM and 11:59 PM, or from midnight to 5:00 AM, the chart is prepared at least 10 hours before departure.
